Week 5 Of The Little Black Dress Challenge: The End Is Near!

Week 5… The finishing line to my first Little Black Dress Challenge is almost here. Committing to a body transformation challenge like this for 6 weeks is not easy. Leading up to the final week, I cannot fully explain how fulfilling it is to be inspired by my own progress. I feel more empowered and that is something to appreciate and celebrate.

Over the past week, we were very busy here at The Body Firm. So I could not dedicate much time to do beauty treatments and exercise as much as I wanted. However, I continued to rigorously follow my healthy diet. Keep reading for some highlights to my week.


We are all familiar with the old adage “Eat Breakfast Like a King, Lunch Like a Prince, and Dinner Like a Pauper”. But how many of us are truly following this important rule?

Breakfast literally means “breaking the fast”. You are indeed feeding your body and brain with energy after fasting all night while you sleep. It fuels your body and increases your metabolism.

A healthy breakfast includes good carbs (not processed carbs like white bread or white rice), fibre and protein. Beside providing us with energy, breakfast foods are good sources of important nutrients such as calcium, iron and B vitamins. The body needs these essential nutrients and research shows that if these are missed at breakfast, they are less likely to be compensated for throughout  the day.

Fruit and vegetables are good sources of vitamins and minerals so try to include a portion at breakfast. I personally find it difficult to vary my breakfast and like a real Dutchie, I prefer to have a cracker with cheese. However, I also enjoy once in awhile a boiled egg with cherry tomatoes on brown bread, or a bowl of natural yoghurt topped with fresh fruit (captured in the picture above). I never skip breakfast and neither should you.


With the festive season fast approaching, many customers are making last minute appointments in hopes of cutting out the last stubborn inches and extra fat… just in time for Christmas.

It was great to greet so many motivated customers who are eager to get their body back in good shape!

But this busy schedule also meant that I had to limit my personal beauty treatments to serve all the customers.

I however kept a few body treatments such as the I-lipo as I could set it up myself. This time around, I focused on the legs rather than the tummy. The I-Lipo system is particularly powerful when followed by exercises. The I-Lipo opens up the fat cells by a chemical reaction from the cold laser. The content of the fat cell gets metabolised by the body and it is evacuated from your body in a natural way. Increasing your heart rate is an important factor in that process. So I went straight to the gym after each of my sessions.


Last week I wrote about the High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) and how my first attempt resulted in a bad muscle ache. In fact, I combined HIIT with some biking and long walks through MacRitchie Reservoir. This workout combination caused me not only muscle ache, but also a lot of stiffness. I felt very old! So I decided to do some yoga as well. I went to COMO Shambhala, our neighbours from the 6th floor. I particularly love Yin Yoga, which is a combination of breathing techniques and floor poses to stretch the muscles. Most poses are held for 3 minutes and believe me, sometimes it feels like an eternity! It does have a great relaxing effect and you can feel it is good for the body.

I am on the last stretch before the big finale… I built new habits, crafted a new healthy routine and my little black dress is already smiling at me from the hanger. I can’t wait to flaunt it!

With Christmas around the corner, I am looking forward to a well deserved break. I am going on holidays in Australia with a friend and our kids. I know I really need to find a way to enjoy food and drinks without overindulging on Christmas lunches and dinners. I can’t imagine to waste all the hard work of the last 5 weeks. I have to make a plan for myself and stick to it!
